I have laid before the Lords Commissioners of His
Majesty's Treasury Mr. Wood's letter of the 13th instant
(34/2954 Y) relative to the loan to the Hong Kong Government
of the services of Mr. E. Burney, one of the Board's
Inspectors.
In reply T am to request you to convey to the
Board of Education Their Lordships' sanction for the
arrangements proposed for Mr. Burney's loan and to state
that the percentage contribution to be made by the Hong Kong Government in respect of Mr. Burney's pension rights
should be at the rate of 20% of his salary, Hong Kong having
been declared to be an unhealthy place under Section 1 of
the Superannuation Act 1876.
